Troubled airbags, Toyota recalls thousands of SUVs


Toyota re-reported the company would conduct a recall of two models of sport utility vehicle (SUV) flagship, RAV4 and Highlander.
No half-hearted, the number of cars that will be drawn to reach 308,000 units, with details of 214,000 units RAV4 and Highlander 94 000 units.
The recall will be done because it has found problems with airbag safety systems. When an accident, the airbag may not inflate properly.
Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. announced they will conduct a voluntary safety recall for the 2008 RAV4, Highlander in 2008 that sold in the United States.
"There are two sensors in a vehicle airbag system. If one suffers sensor malfunction, airbag warning light will turn on and interfere with its performance, "writes Toyota in his official statement, quoted Okezone from Topspeed, Monday (25/04/2011).
But Toyota claimed that there has been no accidents caused by this problem. But as a sense of responsibility, Toyota still will call the owners of these cars, to be able to make improvements to the car unit of the detected problems.
